At Blockbuster, we continue to depend on her for development and implementation of local public relations, radio promotions and store events in the San Diego market, and, on a project basis, the Fresno market. Marisa Vallbona has been an integral part of 7-Eleven, Inc.'s public relations efforts for more than 8 years. We have found her to consistently produce quality work. She is conscientious, energetic, strategic in her thinking and committed to her clients. The type of work Marisa has performed on 7-Eleven stores' behalf includes promotions, community relations, media relations and special events in San Diego and Imperial counties. She has been tapped by 7-Eleven, Inc.'s Corporate Communications group to assist in the planning for new campaigns and to train new PR Consultants hired in the western part of the United States. Marisa had offered to write 7-Eleven, Inc.'s entry into the Public Relations Society of America's 1997 Silver Anvil competition. The entry she wrote was judged against almost 700 entries and was one of 40 that won. We believe her strategic skills were instrumental in helping 7-Eleven capture the national competition's top award in the public relations industry for business Community Relations projects. Over the years, Marisa has worked with our operations team and was often requested over others to assist them with their public relations needs. She has demonstrated her versatility and expertise in handling radio and community affairs promotions, in times of crises and in representing our company in high-profile initiatives, such as her work with California Attorney General Dan Lundgren Missing Children's awareness campaign with in 1997. Marisa's enthusiastic "can do" attitude, her thought processes and news media contacts in her area would be a plus in any organization's public relations campaigns and efforts.

Our original assignment was the first market launch in San Diego. In our pre-launch efforts, we were able to gain additional exposure beyond our plans through a number of creative media opportunities and channels identified and pursued by Marisa and her team. Tragically, the day before our launch were the events of September 11, resulting in the cancellation and eventual rescheduling of our launch. Marisa and her team rose to the challenge, and with heavy hearts helped counsel our client on ways to proceed with the launch at a more appropriate time in a way that would honor those impacted by the September 11 events. Ultimately, the San Diego market launch went so well that the client requested that Marisa be permanently positioned as a core member of the XM team, and she has continued to support and manage additional market launches throughout the country. Marisa has consistently delivered an "above and beyond the call of duty" performance, assuring us time and time again that we had nothing to worry about with her designated market launches. On a personal note, Marisa is a pleasure and a delight to work with, and I sincerely hope that we have the opportunity to work together again. As we both know, Blockbuster and 7-Eleven are about as promotionally driven as it gets when it comes to radio. And with the volume of San Diego locations for either client, creating, implementing and coordinating effective radio promotions is a true art. You come up with great ideas, you handle tons of details, you understand the strengths of radio and, most importantly, you get involved and stay involved because you really care. You are also one of the most consummate communicators I've ever met.
